January & February 2023

Happy New Year!

Unfortunately, due to snow we had to cancel our Christmas party and meeting in December. This was very disappointing for everyone; however, we will reorganise the party.

I am sending this letter to cover both January and February, as the postal strikes look set to continue.

We have some very good speakers lined up for the new year, including Herts Vision Loss in January and the RNIB Technology for Life Team. Further to my earlier note, the Boys Choir from St George’s School will perform for us at a meeting soon. We are also investigating the canal boat trip we talked about at the AGM, and we will again have an afternoon tea out. Peter Spencer, a former magistrate, has also agreed to come and speak in the spring — so we have a varied and interesting programme for 2023!

I am delighted to announce we have a new treasurer, Teresa Orme, who will join us on the committee. I’m sure you will give her a warm welcome when you meet her at the January meeting.

🎉 The delayed Christmas Party will be held on February 21 — one week later than normal due to buildings work in the hall. Members and partners, new members, drivers and volunteers are all welcome. As well as party food, the U3A Ukulele Group have agreed to perform. Thank you to Grant for organising this.
